Our most recent photos are from a Glendale property we recently worked on. This particular homeowner called us out to perform an interior and exterior model. Immediately, our Los Angeles based remodeling and construction guys went to work. Roger drew up the plans with the help of local architect Curt Sturgill and the client gave the Okay. I was excited to get to work on this one as it was one of the first in Glendale where we were able to do both an interior and exterior design. We remodeled the exterior with brand new windows, roof and gutters. We also re-landscaped the outside and used pavers to construct the walks and driveway.

All in all our Los Angeles based construction and remodeling company was able to completely redo the house to the client’s exact specifications. We added value to the house and the neighborhood and we offered the homeowner an affordable elegant home to call, well, you know. You should have seen the homeowner’s face when we did the final walk-through. To see our designs go from images on a piece of paper to actual reality, it’s a pretty good feeling. To see that feeling brighten up a homeowner’s face is even more rewarding.

Each one of us brings a little something extra to the table and, you might not be able to tell being an outsider, but I can see each one of our contributions just looking at the photos on our site.

Not only can you see all the various rooms we have completed, but the photos also show the quality materials we use. There is a lot of detail in those photos and we did that on purpose. The dining room flooring, for instance, allows you to see the sheen, which is almost like being in the room. We hope that is the effect everyone feels when visiting our site. Our Approach to Los Angeles Based Construction

We approach each project as an opportunity to show our clients we are unlike any other Los Angeles based construction company or anywhere else. Here’s an example. A client in Glendale gave us a call with such a unique request, I immediately asked to be on that particular crew just to see the vision come to life. This particular client was very enthusiastic about growing her own organic fruits and vegetables indoors and communicated with Roger how they had envisioned adding-on a 3 level living-room with an indoor-garden, complete with sky-lighting and recessed natural florescent lighting to supplement on the rare days when the sun isn’t beaming in Southern California.

The designs Roger created from the descriptions the client conveyed were incredible. The client was so pleased with the many options Roger provided that she actually had a hard time deciding on the final design. Once the decision was made, we went right to work.

Within 30 days, we were well on our way and right on schedule. Each time the client checked in, she were amazed at the ease of progress and the absence of conflict, even in the face of last minute changes she decided on. She delightfully joked how she hoped her vegetables were as adaptive as our crew. Even with her last minute decision on a natural earth pebble tile floor over the more traditional hardwood design, there wasn’t so much as a hiccup in production or cost adjustment, and with the potential of being exposed to excessive sunlight, water and soil, it was clearly the wisest, and most esthetically pleasing choice. Another amazing addition to this project was the installation of a glorious fireplace with a surround made of glass-tile containing thousands of earth-tone specks that blended with the pebble tile floor in the most spectacular way. The North and West walls had 20′ x 5′ deep recesses, each with their own sky-light and supplemental recessed fluorescent lighting.

Towards the last week of construction, the client had already begun planting her garden and bringing in her friends and family to see what affordable excellence looks like. The expressions on their faces as they caught their first glimpse of our work, creates that feeling of pride and accomplishment all of us at Roger Perron Inc, General Contractors, the best Los Angeles based construction company in town, have come to know, love and strive for.

We recently finished another major teardown and rebuild in Los Angeles and it turned out beautifully. This is yet another reason why I love being part of this Los Angeles based remodeling company. As an employee of Fine Designs by Roger Perron, I’ve seen more than my share of remodels, but this one takes the cake. It started out as a modest home that was in a serious state of decline. As a matter of fact, from the outside it looked rather plain. It’s a huge house, but nothing to really make you go, “Wow!”  The owner of this house started looking for a remodeling company based in Los Angeles because he wanted to keep business within the city. Pretty commendable and I’m glad he chose us. He told us that he wanted an Italian Renaissance style home and Roger immediately went to work providing him with a design rendering of the plans.

Roger always provides a design rendering of the plans, which helps the homeowner visualize the project before we begin our remodel. We also submit the rendering to the City of San Marino Design Review Board so that it can be approved. It should be noted that contributing architects Curt Sturgill and Bob Cooper helped with this particular design.

The rendering that Roger submitted called for an additional 1,800 square feet, which were mostly added to the rear of the home. He also planned for two-story additions and major luxury home upgrades. When the homeowner approved the rendering, and after it was approved by the Review Board, we went to work.

Los Angeles Based Remodeling Done Right

My favorite part of this project has to be the dining room and living room areas. We added columns that add a sort of iconic style and a floor that is comprised of highly-polished crema marfil marble slab tiles. Ooh la la. We also added beveled mirrors with decorative moldings to the living room and ceiling dropped details that are found throughout the entire remodeled house.

If you enter into the dining room, you will see that we added a window area to enhance the room’s appeal and to give it much more space. It’s the concave dome ceiling that really catches your eye. The ceiling of this Los Angeles based remodeling project was sculpted to look like a bright blue sky with painted lattice and flower borders. We also hung a crystal chandelier from the ceiling that really sets the room on fire. When you head upstairs to the second story that we added, you will notice that the railing is made of steel and faux-painted patina, black and silver and polished bronze. We also included curved walls that you will also see throughout the Los Angeles based remodel.

The Rest Of The Home

This particular home had a wine cellar already but we enlarged it to include custom-built cabinets that will accommodate many different sizes of wine bottles and a room conditioner to moderate the temperature. These include some of the most outstanding additions that we included to this Renaissance style home and the homeowner was very pleased. In fact, we ended up winning an award for this home. We won the 1998 Cornerstone Award for Thong Residence, the name given to this Los Angeles based remodel.

I was so honored to be able to work on this home and I’m glad the homeowner decided to go with a remodeling company based in Los Angeles. In all my 15 years with Roger’s company, I don’t think I’ve ever been so proud of a finished product. Just looking at the before and after photos and standing outside the home, I can’t help but feel total and complete awe.

1.       Are You Licensed? A good Los Angeles builder will always have the proper licensing and the paperwork/actual license to prove it. To be licensed, you have to meet certain criteria. It’s not easy to be licensed and so if you can find a Los Angeles builder who is, you’re in luck.

2.       Do You Carry Insurance? What if someone gets hurt on your property while the remodel is ongoing? Will the Los Angeles builder’s insurance cover it? What if your property is damaged? Los Angeles builders know to protect themselves and you, at least the legit ones do.

3.       What About Permits? A Los Angeles builder will need to know about the various permits you need to do work on your home in the city of Los Angeles.  Each city is different, so knowledge and experience in Los Angeles is paramount. This will particularly come into play if you want to add rooms or expand on your home in any way. Don’t get in trouble with the local governments by building where you’re not supposed to. Your Los Angeles builder will help you stay within the law.

4.       Who Cleans Up? Believe it or not, some contractors in Los Angeles don’t do any cleanup work at all. They do the remodel or new construction job at hand and then they leave the client to do all the dirty work. Sometimes, this is in really fine print on the Los Angeles builder’s paperwork, so the client doesn’t even realize it until the job’s over. Make sure you know who is going to clean your property up and whether or not you’re going to be charged for it.

5.       Do You Have References? If you want to know if a particular Los Angeles builder is good or not, you should look at his or her previous work. You can look at photographs of previous rooms and homes the builder has completed and in some cases you can contact the previous clients directly. A good Los Angeles builder will be happy to show you photos and let you talk to clients, as they’ll have the quality work to back their claims up.

These are just a few of the questions you should ask any builder in Los Angeles that you may be considering for your remodel job. By asking these questions, you can be sure that you’re hiring a Los Angeles builder that is trained and certified, skillful and dependable. You are the one who is going to be living in your home for many years. Don’t just choose a name that you found on some directory. Instead, spend some time getting to know the Los Angeles builder so that you know the job will be done correctly the first time.

Stocking Up On Supplies

So, just like a Los Angeles general contractor would do, he headed over to the local Home Depot and stocked up. He bought all the lumber, sheet rock, he picked out fancy sink basins and knobs and he chose the lighting he needed. He even bought the tools he thought he’d need. Once this client brought all these materials home and started to actually dig in, that’s when he found out that remodeling a home takes a little more than just an online video.

Calling On the Experts

This client ended up making a bigger mess than he did anything (his words).

Then he called us.

He said he found us from a general contractor in Los Angeles directory but he also read plenty of our reviews. He wanted a team that could not only clean up the mess he made, but that could turn his home into one he could be proud of. Knowing that we provide our clients with affordable elegance went a long way towards helping him make his decision. He looked at our photos online and even contacted one of our previous clients. When we finally arrived at his home, we could see that he’d torn one wall down and was in the process of rebuilding it when he stopped. He couldn’t get his angles to line up and he didn’t have the confidence in his own abilities. He would rather have the experts handle it, and that’s the lesson, I guess, that I’m trying to convey.

Sure, anyone can watch an online video and anyone can read a book about how to remodel one’s home, or kitchen or bathroom. One particular Los Angeles construction project we completed recently had me awed, even after 15 years of being in this business. When we showed up to this particular homeowner’s house, she didn’t know what she wanted. She knew she wanted her living room larger and she wanted a separate bedroom added on. Then she began to hint of a second story addition. Luckily, this is what we do best, but I wasn’t sure how well we did it until the job was done. Let me explain.

At Fine Designs by Roger Perron, Inc. we make it a point to listen to the client’s needs, wants and desires. And that’s just what we did with this homeowner. We heard her wants, we found out what she truly needed in a home and then we gave her several options to choose from. Finally, we drew up some plans and finalized them with her before we got started. She was excited to see what we could truly do to her home, and I have to admit that I was pretty anxious myself.

We set to work on that particular Los Angeles construction project knowing full well what we had to do. And we did it quickly and, according to this particular homeowner, we exceeded the client’s expectations.

The Project

When we began this Los Angeles construction job, we brought our team of expert craftsmen out to the property to survey the project and get an estimate on time, materials and all the rest that goes into a project of this magnitude. And we made especially sure that the homeowner knew what was going on at all times. This is very important. We prefer the homeowner be informed about what the project entails and to make sure that their expectations remain realistic.

Once we explained everything to her, we even invited her to watch some of the project as it was ongoing. In the end, we had supplied this homeowner with a new master bathroom complete with marble countertops and a fully enclosed shower with marble shower bench, a much larger kitchen and dining room area that allows for a full view of her backyard and a spare bedroom for when her family comes to visit from out of state. But the most exciting aspect was the second story addition, which added two more rooms, a bathroom and a living area that she plans to turn into a home theater.

Of all the construction Los Angeles has to offer, this particular project was my favorite. The homeowner was great, our team worked efficiently as always and even the cleanup went quickly. But the look on the homeowner’s face when she saw her new home, it’s those kinds of moments that make what we do truly worth it.

Take this recent Encino remodel project. We were called in to redo a bathroom for a nice homeowner who wasn’t really sure what she wanted. She knew that she wanted something modern, but she was also a big fan of art. She wanted a modern, artistic look. Not very specific, but we assured her that we were experts at Encino remodels and we were sure she’d be very happy with our work.

The Finished Product

In the bathroom is a powder bath that the customer absolutely loves. The vessel sink, which has become quite popular as of late, is the perfect addition for the space.

But the smart use of granite is what sets the entire room off. The customer nearly fainted when she saw it. Then, she saw her master bathroom.

Master Bathroom

The master bathroom, like the Encino remodel of the powder bath, is part of the master suite addition we completed on the homeowner’s home. We provided plenty of space and comfort. We put in a very spacious shower with a seat for two. But the coolest part is that the seating in the shower is an extension of the granite that surrounds the tub.

The way the tiles were laid in that master bathroom Encino remodel combined with the granite give the room a very appealing look. There is even a vanity area where the homeowner can sit and get ready in the mornings. It’s the ultimate master bathroom and the homeowner agreed. Needless to say, she was very pleased.

New Construction in Sherman Oaks

If you look on our website, you will get to see the Sherman Oaks construction project that we recently finished in Topanga Canyon. The photo depicted on the website is of the dining room. The photo was taken from the kitchen entryway with a wide angle lens to try and get everything in the shot.

The kitchen has a very homey feel which I really love and creates a very open feel. The hardwood flooring that you see in the photo is oak and the cabinets are stained with a light maple finish. The photo actually doesn’t do the room justice. The room is much larger than it looks and it offers a beautiful view of the landscaping we also completed.

The Exterior

In this particular Sherman Oaks construction job, we made it so that you can see the deck from the dining room table. There French Door access to the deck from the dining room and kitchen. You can even get to the deck from the master bedroom. That project is one that I’m truly proud to be a part of.

While that project is my favorite Sherman Oaks construction job, we recently had a Sherman Oaks remodel that also turned out fantastic. During that remodel in Sherman Oaks, we added a second story and installed more space on the rear. Of course the changes are seamless and the homeowner was absolutely thrilled.

A Pacific Palisades Living Room

This Pacific Palisades construction project allowed us to really show off what we can do. We created a two-story space in the living room with a multifaceted ceiling design. As you can see from the photo, the room is actually round in shape with a stone floor. The windows are constructed of solid natural mahogany and each one sports a clear coat finish. The room literally looks like something you would see in a vacation guide, but the mural over the fireplace is my favorite part. The mural is actually a template of a sculpture recovered from Pompeii and it looks right at home with the rest of the room’s décor.
